Why is Medicaid Expansion Important to the state of Wisconsin?
40 nursing homes have closed across the state since 2016, including four so far this year during a pandemic. 550 residents were forced out during last year’s nursing home closings alone. And over 2,000 beds were lost.
State Republicans refused money from the Federal Government that could have funded these facilities. Over 18% of District 15 is over 65 and over 13% of Wisconsin is over 65 of which many require care from a medical facility.

Reversing a RTA law in 2011 to allow for the creation of Regional Transit Authorities in the metropolitan areas of Wisconsin cities which will reduce traffic. Expanding public transportation reduces the amount of cars, thus reducing emissions into our environment. Expanded public transportation is affordable and will allow accessibility to the general public. This in turn spreads out the population in a city connecting various forms of public transportation to outlying suburbs and nearby cities.
To ensure this expansion works, a long-term funding program will keep roads and bridges repaired and in good condition will need to be created. This would also allow for Increased inspections on highway bridges across the state. Additionally the program will ensure that potholes will be fixed allowing everyone a safer driving experience year round.
